A Guide To Spend Quality Time With Your Family On Quarantine Days

1 min reading time
We have been at home for days or even weeks to avoid the Corona hazard. This is a bigger problem for families with children because they had to cancel all the activities they could do with the family. We can't do these activities at home, but this does not mean that we should sit without doing anything. On the contrary, we can ensure that every family member, including ourselves, has a fun and enjoyable time with the right activities.

Try Simple Scientific Experiments

With some simple scientific experiments, you can keep your kids busy for a long time and let them learn to think creatively. For example:

Measure and mark the shadow of your children at 10 o'clock in the most sunlit room of the house. Repeat this activity every hour and ask them to think about the reason for the difference between the shadow marks.
Throw a spoonful of food coloring into a jar of water, a small piece of celery, and close the lid. Ask your children to check the jar every day and note their observations. Celery will sprout in 24 hours and will look very impressive with its capillaries.
Watch natural life live, visit museums virtually, and talk to your children about both experiences. For example, San Diego Safari Park has a "butterfly camera" that broadcasts live 24 hours a day. Google, on the other hand, allows you to visit virtually any famous museum in the world.

Combine Sports And Entertainment

If you want your kids to do sports, it will probably not work, but you can turn the sport into a game. This way, you can allow them to exercise and spend their energy. For example:

Create smooth and zigzag lines on the floor using an industrial tape. Ask your children to walk on these lines or even roll over. The only rule is that they cannot cross the line!
Place the seat cushions onto the ground leaving space between them and ask your children to go from one end of the room to the other. But they cannot step on the floor, they can only use cushions!

Start Keeping A Diary

It's time to start keeping a diary. Explain the concept of “diary” to your children and tell them that they should write in their diaries for at least 15 minutes every day. Let them express what they experienced that day in their own words: Keeping a diary will both improve their verbal skills and have a healing effect. In this way, your children can have a useful habit that will continue throughout their lives.

Make Sure There Is A “Quiet Time”

Your kids can start learning social rules now. Make them understand that there is no need to do something all day long, everyone needs a “quiet time” to spend on their own. Have a quiet time during the day and make sure that everyone stays on their own without disturbing someone else during this time. For example, they can read books, draw pictures, or watch their favorite cartoons (but not too loudly) during this period. Plan your day and make sure that there is time for “silence” as well as playtime.
